* Fish Care **
During the hot weather and warmer water temperatures the oxygen levels are much more
lower than the wetter months and therefore we all need to be extra vigilant with our fish
care and handling.
* DO NOT retain fish during the hotter months for long periods of time. Let them recover in
the net whilst you get yourself prepared
* Keep calm after a capture. Take a minute and gather your thoughts. It’s all too easy to
make a mistake when the adrenaline is pumping.
* Always remove our fish from the water using the slings provided
* Have everything to hand ready. Headtorch, fishcare liquids, forceps (if needed) camera
equipment etc
* Try to leave all fishcare equipment in shaded areas to keep cool. This includes cradles
and slings etc.
* Use the buckets and get FRESH cool water from the lake margins to soak everything
whilst the fish remains in the net DO NOT use a bucketful of water that has been in the
sunshine heating up. Soak the slings and cradles BEFORE transferring the fish.
* DO NOT have more than one carp in the net at any one time.
* ALWAYS use good quality fish care products on mouth and body marks.
* Be as proficient as possible with the fish on the bank. Net the fish, sling under the net,
transfer to cradle. Remove hook, net and treat any wounds, weigh the fish, photograph the
fish, and return to the water in the sling. Hold upright until the fish swims strongly away.
We are aware that these are common sense guidelines but we felt the need to post them
one more time.
Anyone not following the fish care guidelines, or is seen to be performing poor fish care
may be asked to leave without any refund.
